Eden: Plastic genesis

The mass production of non biodegradable plastics has been phased out of society by 2069, leaving over 9,450,000,000 metric tonnes of redundant plastic waste left on earth. New life for plastic is required: a new genesis.

Eden is a series of islands created from the plastic of the past, Edens are scattered across the world on major currents and gyres to collect plastic from the oceans. Each Eden is independent of the others but all follow a 7 stage process dubbed as “days” based on the creation story.

”day”1-Collecting
”day”2-Processing

”day”3-Framework
”day”4-Forming
”day”5-Migrating
”day”6-Learning
”day”7-Trusting

Edens seek to redefine humanities role in the ecosystem, as with the original creation story there is a distance between the creator and the occupier. By creating our own Eden we transcend our role of user and become the shapers of these new systems. Systems that will take ownership of Eden.
