Air pollution has been around for decades and even till today since the industrial revolution took place. Fumes and exhaust from cars and industrial plants deteriorate the clean air across the town and city causing breathing difficulty. What would the future be like and how do we address this issue? Indeed, air pollution cannot be resolve in a short period of time but everyone should take initiative to be involve in comprehending the issue that arise as air pollution mainly emerged due to our own activity compromising the environment and the future.

 

The project comprises of 2 components in tackling the issue of air pollution, the sculptural installation monument and the institute of air. Both features will be located in Cumbernauld as a part of an experiment in recreating an utopian vision of a better living condition of air quality for the community. The 3 concept associated establishes a strong provocative manner to raise awareness for the occupants to reduce the impact of contributing air pollution to the surrounding through education, experiencing and researching thus improving the surrounding air quality.

 

Located on the highest point of Cumbernauld close to the school, the sculpture monument monitors the air quality of the surrounding Cumbernauld imparting awareness to visitors and students. The institute of air is located on the M80 highway which forms a bridge and a functioning monument to absorb large quantities of carbon monoxide and to provoke the commuters on the road.
